Based on an extensive international cooperation, ARCTOX primarily aims to map and monitor the mercury contamination of Arctic marine food webs using seabirds as bio-indicators. To this end, this pan-Arctic network collects biological tissues on a total of 26 different seabird species at 72 breeding sites all around the Arctic and subarctic.
